Like the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz, the Conch is one of those team names that makes no sense in the team's current location, but did in its previous one. From 1979 to 1988, the team was in the Caribbean island of St. Croix, where there are many more conch shells than in East Troy, WI. It may surprise some to learn that owner Ron Kuziel's and GM Troy Kuziel's Conch are tied with Lower Niles for having won more DNFL championships than any other team--five, including three in a row from 1989 to 1991, two of those by tiebreaker in the DNFL Bowl. That three-peat is in the Hall of Fame. As recounted in the Parma team history, Parma's 1985 team scored the most points and had the best points ratio that year, yet failed to make the playoffs. The 1996 Conch is the opposite side of the coin. In 1996 East Troy scored the fewest points of all the teams in the league, had a +/- points ratio of -51, second worst in the league, and had a division record of 1-4-1, also second worst in the league. Despite a season that would have been a more likely bet for first draft choice territory, East Troy finished first in its division and won the DNFL Bowl.
